I'm in Houston, TX right now. Brody is in Columbus, OH, yet we should be in Lake Charles, LA. Oh well, we will get there eventually. Maybe not this month but eventually. I came here last week for my sisters wedding and to find a place to live in Lake Charles. I didn't realize finding a place to rent was going to be such a difficult task. I had been searching online for a while now and decided to go see the few homes I found. My dad and I went to Lake Charles on Monday. The homes I found ended up being dumps. The only nice house was right on a lake with no fence and an immediate drop off...not the ideal situation for small children. So, after talking to some real estate agents who informed us there were basically no homes to rent in that city we said forget it to renting a house. So we'll be living in an apartment for a while.
Getting from Columbus to Houston was not my greatest moment. I flew out here with both kids. I went through security while holding Chase. The metal detector kept beeping on us. I am always very cautious and have no metal on. After several times someone suggested that maybe Chase had a car in his pocket. That never crossed my mind, because Chase doesn't know how to put cars in his pockets, but apparently our old babysitter put them in when she come over earlier that day to say goodbye. So it turns out they were right, he had 2 cars in his pockets. So after about 5 attempts and several rolling eyes I passed through security. I realize now I should have ran then, because everything was just going to get worse. We had an evening flight, which ended up getting delayed, and Chase was tired so I thought he would just fall asleep, but I was wrong. He was flipping out for about 30-45 mins straight. He was tired, but he would not stop screaming. He would not settle down enough to go to sleep. Eventually him and Baylor both fell asleep and all was well until the flight ended and Baylor threw up not once but 2 times. But, I made it, and I kept reminding myself that it was a one way flight and I don't have to do it again...thank goodness.
Like I mentioned Brody is still in Ohio. He will be packing a moving truck on Tuesday and then joining us in Houston. He'll then be spending the 1st part of the following week in Lake Charles to start training and learning. We then might go to San Antonio or somewhere to kill time. Then we are going to Aspen Grove the 2nd week of July for a family reunion. After that we will officially move to Lake Charles and start working and living there. Our apartment is not going to be available to move into until the middle of July, so that's why it's taking us such a long time to get out there, but needless to say we are excited to start this new chapter in our lives. It's just a little more delayed than we had wanted.

Ugh! Sorry it is turning into a bit of a nightmare. I guess it is a good thing you waited to look at the houses though so I you can feel good about that.
It sounds like things are a little crazy right now, but I am sure they will slow down and you will love this next phase. Good luck!
WOW!!! Flights are never good! So sorry! Atleast you guys have a job because we have NONE!!
oh boy, well, hang in there! You guys will be living in your new place before you know it!
Any day that involves kids throwing up is pretty much the worst day ever. I think you take the cake since you also had to fly solo with both kiddos on the same day!
WOW! I had no idea you had such a fun time on your flight! Poor girl! I am soo nervous to fly with two kids...I think it's much harder. Soo funny that Chase had cars in his pockets! hahah Who would have thought to check his pockets! hahah
WE miss you guys already! Let us know when you finally get settled in and Ethan can send Baylor a letter or picture and start pen-paling eh! :)
EThan gets this sad look on his face whenever I mention Baylor cause he misses him soo much! I never knew how hard it would be for such a little person! He keeps telling me that Baylor is still his ONLY BEST FRIEND and no one else!
